Rehearsals - Monday/Thursday 6-9
Now that camp is over, we return to our regular Monday and Thursday rehearsal schedule from 6-9 PM. Please remember, these are not optional rehearsals! Refer to your marching band handbook if you have questions regarding this. Our goal over the next two weeks is to continue learning more of the show and prepare ourselves for our first performance on Friday, 8/19 at the Teacher In-Service Performance, as well as prepare for our first public performance on the field at the opening Football Game on September 2nd.
As mentioned, rehearsal attendance is now expected. If you have a reason to miss a rehearsal, please fill out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/qmGmY4zCf239BbSv1 to do so. You must be logged in to your bigspringsd.org email. Just sending an email to me is not the acceptable way to inform me of a missed rehearsal, simply because of the volume of email that I receive on a given day.
Parents - we need your help! Additionally, our concession stand is our largest fundraiser each and every year!
Student leaders, as mentioned on the Facebook page, on Thursday, 8/11 we will be having a De-Band-Camping day at 4 PM. Little Caesars Pizza will be provided. If you are available, please comment on the Facebook post so I know the quantity of pizza needed. I always appreciate the help to get the room ready!
Band Booster Meeting - Monday 8/8 - 6:30 PM
The August Band Booster meeting will take place Monday evening at 6:30 PM in the HS Choir Room. We hope to see many parents there, especially as we approach the upcoming football season, open our new concession stand, and prepare for the Bulldog Band Brawl at the end of September!
DCI Finals Party - Saturday, 8/13
Saturday evening is the annual Drum Corps International World Championships Finals, which take place at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. We will be Live-Streaming this event in the Band Room beginning at 5:30 PM. Typically the first corps steps off around 6:15 or so, with the event ending around 10 PM. It will feature the top 12 corps, as chosen via the Prelims event on Thursday (where the Top 18 are decided) and the Semifinals event on Friday (where the Top 12 are decided). This year there are some incredible shows!
If you are coming, bring a snack food to share, and some comfy chairs, or blankets to sit on, and we will have a fun evening of great drum corps! Hopefully, we can make this an annual event!
Keep up the great work so far this season. You have all done incredible work, and if we keep this type of work ethic all season, great things will come to you!
